Overview

Registered Nurse (RN), Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) role at Lifepoint Health. Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

• Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care as required.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family as appropriate.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Performs other duties as assigned; may be required to perform duties of CNA, MA, LPN, or other nursing staff on occasion.
• Attends staff meetings, in-services, projects and committees as assigned.
• Adheres to policies and procedures of Lifepoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas.
• Works scheduled shifts including overtime when necessary and accepts call schedules as directed.
• Maintains a neat and professional appearance in accordance with the dress code.
• Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is present; follows safety protocols.
• Reports to the Director of Med Surg.

• Minimum Education
  :
  Associate's degree is required.
• Required Skills
  :
  Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Certifications
  : AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), within 30 days of hire.
• Licenses
  :
  Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
