Consolidated Electric Services of Virginia, LLC (CES) is a Veteran‑Owned, Class A Electrical Contractor providing commercial, industrial, municipal, and government electrical construction services throughout Virginia and West Virginia.
Position SummaryThe Commercial & Industrial Electrical Estimator is responsible for reviewing construction drawings, specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, developing labor and material estimates, coordinating supplier and subcontractor pricing, identifying project risks, and preparing complete bid proposals for commercial, industrial, municipal, and government electrical construction projects. This position requires a highly motivated individual capable of working independently while managing multiple estimates in a fast‑paced environment.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
- Perform complete and accurate electrical quantity takeoffs.
- Prepare detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Identify scope gaps and prepare Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Develop comprehensive bid proposals and detailed scope letters.
- Coordinate project turnover with Project Management following project award.
- Participate in budgeting, conceptual estimating, and value engineering.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical pricing information.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors.
- Manage multiple estimates while consistently meeting bid deadlines.
- Current Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrician license.
- Minimum of 10 years of verifiable commercial and industrial electrical construction experience as a Journeyman or Master Electrician.
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial electrical estimating experience.
- Demonstrated experience serving as the lead estimator on commercial electrical construction projects with contract values ranging from $1 million to $2 million.
- Experience working for a commercial electrical contractor; primarily residential experience will not be considered.
- Thorough knowledge of the Electrical Code (NEC).
- Strong understanding of commercial and industrial electrical construction methods and installation practices.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience preparing complete labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates.
- Experience coordinating supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Experience estimating commercial, industrial, municipal, state, and federal government projects.
- Experience with design‑build electrical construction.
- Experience using Bluebeam Revu, Accubid, McCormick, Plan Swift, or similar estimating software.
- Experience with negotiated, hard‑bid, and design‑build projects.
- Produces accurate, complete, and profitable estimates.
- Understands how commercial and industrial electrical systems are installed—not just how they appear on construction drawings.
- Identifies constructability issues before they become field problems.
- Takes ownership of work and is accountable for results.
- Communicates professionally with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and coworkers.
- Works independently with minimal supervision.
- Successfully manages multiple deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
- Successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screening.
- Participate in random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy and customer contractual requirements.
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
