We're supporting a Top 10 Hampshire secondary school in Winchester to appoint a caring, resilient and proactive Pastoral Support Officer to join its dedicated Pastoral and Safeguarding Team.
This is a meaningful role focused on student wellbeing, behaviour and emotional development - supporting young people to overcome barriers and thrive in school.
The Role- Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support
- Manage a caseload of students requiring additional wellbeing support
- Deliver evidence-based interventions (resilience, anxiety management, emotional regulation)
- Support students in reset/seclusion when required
- Liaise with staff, parents and external agencies
- Contribute to the school's Mental Health & Wellbeing Strategy
- Be an active member of the Safeguarding Team
- Build relationships with key students and staff
- Understand safeguarding systems and school procedures
- Support existing interventions and pastoral plans
- Take ownership of a student caseload
- Deliver small-group wellbeing sessions
- Work confidently alongside families and external agencies
- Become a trusted and consistent presence for students
- Contribute ideas to strengthen pastoral provision
- Play an active role in whole-school wellbeing initiatives
You'll grow into the role at a steady pace, with training and support throughout.
Who This Role Suits- Empathetic and resilient individuals
- Those with experience in education, youth work or child support (desirable but not essential)
- Graduates considering a career in education, counselling or social care
- Strong communicators who can build positive relationships
- Good literacy, organisational skills and confidence working with young people are essential
Training and guidance will be provided.
