Equine Technician

Salary:
Up to £25,335 per annum (pro‑ra if part‑time) PLUS potential for a £2,000 recruitment‑attraction payment (pro‑ra if part‑time) for experienced appointees.

Working pattern: 37 hrs per week, across 7 days as part of a rota. Working hours will include a weekend day and some evening cover.

Location:

Sparsholt Campus (Winchester). Subsidised on‑site accommodation available. Accommodation in a shared house available.

Overview

Inspire the next generation of equine professionals! An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Equine Centre as we seek to continue to expand our events calendar and enhance student experience.

Working under the guidance of the Equine Centre Manager, we are looking for full‑time and part‑time technicians to join the team at our college and BHS‑approved livery yard. The primary role is to supervise students and facilitate their learning experience in a real working environment. This will include supervision and support of practical skills and development to maintain high standards in the care, husbandry, and training of our horses.

The post holder will lead by example, ensuring a positive, educational student experience that is learner‑focused and rewarding.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise students and support their practical skills and development.
  • Lead by example to provide a positive, educational student experience.
  • Provide high‑quality care to the college horses, ensuring they are kept in accordance with BHS standards.
  • Handle aspects of administration, organisation, and day‑to‑day operation of the dynamic Equine Centre.
  • Deliver a varied events and competition calendar.
  • School the college horses and, where suitable, compete in on‑site competitions.
