Senior Educational Developer

Full-time, 37 hours per week

£41,064 - £46,049 per annum

We are delighted to invite applications for an exciting new role within the University of Winchester’s Learning and Teaching Development Unit (LTDU).

The Senior Educational Developer plays a central role in supporting the development of academic staff and educational practice across the University. Working at the heart of the University of Winchester’s academic community, they provide a point of reference for teaching expertise, educational initiatives and professional recognition.

This post will be of interest to anyone who wants to raise their profile and gain experience of leadership in the field of educational development. The successful candidate will lead on the development and delivery of training for staff who are new to Higher Education and will work closely with academic leaders across the university’s faculties, to design and deliver appropriate programmes of support and development for experienced teaching staff.

They will contribute to a range of university-wide initiatives relating to authentic assessment and teaching quality and will have opportunities to lead as well as contribute to major educational projects linked to the university’s vision for transformational education.

Working closely with the Head of Technology Enhanced Learning and Digital literacy the educational developer also plays a central role in the University’s Advance HE accredited Celebration and Accreditation Scheme for Learning and Teaching Expertise (CASTLE). The successful candidate will work to support and develop our community of Mentors and Reviewers and will assist the CASTLE Chair in monitoring, evaluating and enhancing that scheme.

The successful candidate will need to be a Fellow or Senior Fellow of the Higher Education academy. They will also need significant experience of successful higher education teaching and, on this basis, be able to establish credibility with academic colleagues from a diverse range of discipline backgrounds. A track record of working in an educational development context would be an advantage and a thorough understanding of the PSF 2023 and the varied ways in which it can support the development of teaching expertise will underpin effective practice in this role.
