Job Title: Production Planner/Controller - Aerospace
Location: Middle Wallop, Stockbridge, Hampshire
Employment Type: Contract initially a 12-month period.
Working Time: Mon – Friday only
Package: Competitive hourly rate, Inside IR35 (umbrella)

Scope of RoleThis position is for an Industrial Engineer who will report to the Production and Support Engineering Manager to support our Apache Phase Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) activities at Middle Wallop. The role involves applying industrial engineering principles to improve efficiency, optimise workflows, support production planning, and identify opportunities to enhance process performance in a highly regulated, mission‑driven environment. Candidates should have strong industrial engineering fundamentals and experience improving operational performance in a technical aerospace environment.
The selected candidate will work closely with engineering, production, quality and operations teams to support safe, compliant and efficient execution of aerospace work. Experience working in an aviation MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) environment or in aircraft production is preferred.
- Analyse production and operational processes to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, flow, cost and quality.
- Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing and support processes, work methods and resource utilisation.
- Support production planning, workload (line) balancing, line flow analysis and capacity assessments.
- Assist with time studies, process mapping and standard work development.
- Evaluate data to identify bottlenecks, constraints and opportunities for lean improvements.
- Support implementation of process changes, work instructions and operational improvements.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to resolve process issues and improve execution.
- Support planning and reporting activities related to schedule adherence, productivity and operational performance.
- Assist in development of layouts, tooling requirements and facility/process optimisation recommendations as needed.
- Use data‑driven methods to support decision‑making, continuous improvement and operational effectiveness.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to process inefficiencies or production issues.
- Generate Aurora models to support production planning and schedule analysis.
- Develop precedence networks to sequence work activities and evaluate schedule dependencies.
- Develop and maintain production schedules in support of programme execution and operational planning.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non‑US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
- Experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, production support or operations improvement.
- Experience analysing processes, workflows or production systems.
- Experience using data to support process improvement, planning or decision‑making.
- Experience developing precedence networks and production schedules.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, value stream mapping or continuous improvement methods.
- Experience supporting a dynamic production and operations environment.
- Experience with production planning, capacity analysis or workload balancing.
- Proficiency with industrial engineering tools, metrics and reporting methods.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional aerospace environment.
- Experience working in an aviation MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) environment or in aircraft production is preferred.
