Principal Geotechnical Engineer – Winchester – £50,000 - £60,000

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join a highly respected multidisciplinary consultancy in Winchester. This senior position is ideal for an experienced geotechnical professional looking to lead technically challenging projects, mentor junior staff, and play a key role in the continued growth of an expanding geotechnical team.

Responsibilities

Manage a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, commercial, residential, and energy projects across the South of England, overseeing ground investigations, providing technical leadership, and contributing to business development activities.
Lead and review geotechnical interpretative reports and foundation recommendations.
Provide technical support and mentoring to junior engineers and geologists.
Design foundations, retaining structures, and slope stability solutions.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Support business development and help secure new projects.
Manage project budgets, resources, and programme delivery.

Qualifications

A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline.
Significant consultancy experience within geotechnical engineering.
Strong experience with ground investigation and geotechnical design.
Chartered status or progress towards chartership (ICE or Geological Society).
Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
Experience managing projects and mentoring teams.
A full UK driving licence.
