We're recruiting on behalf of a successful multidisciplinary consultancy seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Lead to play a pivotal role in delivering a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects across the UK. This is more than just another technical position.

The role
  • Leading civil engineering projects from feasibility and planning through to detailed design, construction support and completion.
  • Delivering innovative highways, drainage, SuDS, flood risk and infrastructure design solutions.
  • Identifying technical risks and opportunities to deliver practical, commercially viable engineering solutions.
  • Managing project programmes, resources, budgets and quality to ensure successful delivery.
  • Reviewing technical designs, calculations, reports and drawings to maintain the highest engineering standards.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams, consultants and contractors throughout project delivery.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, local authorities and statutory bodies including Highway Authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities, Water Companies and the Environment Agency.
  • Supporting business development by preparing fee proposals, contributing to bids and strengthening client relationships.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers and technicians, helping to build capability across the wider team.
  • Driving continuous improvement by promoting best practice, innovation and efficient project delivery.
What you need to succeed
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE or equivalent).
  • Strong UK consultancy experience delivering civil engineering projects.
  • Excellent technical expertise in highways, drainage, flood risk, SuDS, external works and infrastructure design.
  • Experience producing and reviewing planning and technical approval submissions.
  • Proven experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to manage project scope, budgets, programmes and client expectations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar engineering design software.
  • A proactive, collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders
