BDUK currently employs over 1,400 people in the UK and is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK defence customers including E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, C4
ISTAR Services, Through Life Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services.
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to work within the Engineering Function in Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) to support new business development as well as existing programs. The role will report to the Production Engineering this role you will:
Lead Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in analyzing product development, complex producibility studies and production/tooling philosophies
Refine, validate, coordinate and implement conceptual designs and manages the program architecture for build
Develop manufacturing plans and oversee plan optimization
Conduct complex producibility and variation analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capability matches requirements
Resolve complex technical problems
Serve as a project manager to ensure that contract requirements, specifications, design criteria and schedule performance are integrated and maintained
Lead advanced design solutions and supports research of new product or business opportunities
Deploy company Lean Enterprise analysis methods
Document and communicate producibility best practices
Provide guidance to others through structured mentoring
Key Tasks include:
Development and implementation of production and tooling methodologies.
Participates as a member and leader of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the integration of technical solutions.
Works with others to develop, identify and implement conceptual designs and maintenance of the program architecture for build.
Assists in creation and implementing manufacturing plans.
Resolves technical problems and assists in the implementation of new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts.
Assists in the implementation of Lean principles and technologies.
Interfaces with professional associations, suppliers, IPTs and internal customers to develop products, skills, knowledge and experience.
Preferred
Skills and Experience:
Currently possess a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
Skill and ability to: collect, coordinate, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations.
Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems. Ability to communicate and collaborate with personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.
Ability to analyze problems (troubleshooting, fault isolation, repair, modification, or redesign) of assigned end items to support the design, development and modification of products using knowledge of engineering disciplines.
Experience with Root Cause Analysis, problem solving and improvement projects.
Experience with in Additive Manufacturing Experience in Production, NPI, Modification, Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) and environments.
Strong written and verbal communications and presentation skills.
