We're looking for talented Mechanical Designers with strong SOLIDWORKS or Autodesk Inventor experience to join a growing nuclear engineering team based in Winchester. This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within the UK nuclear sector while benefiting from a flexible hybrid working arrangement.
The RoleAs a Mechanical Designer, you'll play a key role in delivering mechanical design solutions for nuclear and highly regulated engineering projects. You'll be responsible for producing high-quality 3D models and manufacturing drawings, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Produce detailed 3D CAD models using SOLIDWORKS or Autodesk Inventor
- Create accurate manufacturing drawings in accordance with BS 8888
- Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to engineering drawings
- Develop designs from concept through to manufacture for nuclear engineering applications
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams
- Support design reviews and implement engineering changes where required
- Ensure designs comply with quality, safety and regulatory requirements within a highly regulated environment
- Contribute to the successful delivery of projects across the UK nuclear industry
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer
- Strong proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and/or Autodesk Inventor
- Excellent knowledge of BS 8888
- Experience applying GD&T to engineering drawings
- Ability to produce high-quality manufacturing documentation
- Experience working within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry is highly desirable
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and team-working abilities
- Nuclear, defence, aerospace or other highly regulated industries
- Bespoke machinery or specialist equipment design
- Sheet metal, fabricated assemblies or machined components
- Design for Manufacture (DFM)
- Product development and engineering change management
