Hours:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
Pay Rate: £15.00 per hour (higher rate may be considered depending on experience)
St David Recruitment is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to support our client, a leading infrastructure service provider, specialising in water, energy, highways, rail, aviation and telecommunications sectors.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team within the Highways Division on a temporary 4-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong accounts payable and payroll experience to support a busy finance function.
Working as part of a collaborative team of five finance professionals, you will assist with a range of accounting activities and provide general finance support across the department.
Key Responsibilities
* Processing and managing Accounts Payable transactions.
* Assisting with payroll preparation, reconciliation, and checking.
* Preparing and posting accounting journals.
* Posting accruals and supporting month-end activities.
* Assisting with stock counts and inventory-related financial processes.
* Providing ad hoc finance and accounting support as required.
* Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
* Using Microsoft Excel to analyse, reconcile, and report financial information.
Skills and Experience
Essential
* Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Finance Assistant, or similar accounting role.
* Experience with Accounts Payable processes.
* Payroll preparation and payroll checking experience.
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
* Good attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
* Experience supporting month-end accounting activities.
* Experience preparing journals and posting accruals.
* Experience working within a large or multi-site organisation.
Working Arrangement
* This is a hybrid role with office attendance required on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday can be worked remotely from home.
