Lead Nurse Eating Disorders

The closing date is 23 July 2026

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly skilled Lead Nurse to join our Children and Adolescent Eating Disorder (CAED) Service. This is a pivotal leadership role within a specialist multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, evidence-based care to children and young people experiencing eating disorders and their families.

As Lead Nurse you will bring advanced clinical expertise, strong leadership capability, and a passion for delivering outstanding care within a collaborative, recovery-focused service.

The Lead Nurse will provide advanced clinical assessment, formulation and intervention for children and adolescents with eating disorders, including complex and high-risk presentations, and will also serve as a clinical resource for the team, ensuring care is aligned with best practice, national guidance and evidence-based models.

Working alongside the Team Manager, you will provide strong clinical and professional leadership to the nursing workforce, oversee workforce development – including recruitment, retention and succession planning – and promote a culture of learning, reflection and continuous improvement, supporting staff well‑being and professional growth.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Provide professional and clinical nursing leadership across the service and contribute to the development and review of the Trust’s Nursing Strategy.
  • Develop and deliver specialist training, education and development opportunities for nursing staff and other professionals.
  • Lead on promoting clinical innovation and delivering continual development of nursing practice based on evidence and relevant research.
  • Act as Practice and Cost Effectiveness Domain lead for the service.
  • Ensure excellence in nursing practice and that service delivery is based on NICE guidelines and related guidance.
  • Act as service lead in the area appropriate to the service.
  • Ensure all nursing teams meet the Code of Professional Conduct and regulation requirements set out by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Support and advise managers in developing supervision for CAMHS nurses in the designated area.
  • Serve as the point of contact and nursing resource on all nursing issues relating to the designated area.
  • Provide specialist nursing advice and interventions for a caseload of young people with complex needs and their families, working closely with the Service Manager and Clinical Heads of Service to deliver a person-centred service.
  • Provide expert nursing advice to patients, carers and staff.
  • Develop and review clinical care pathways and clinical governance documentation.
