Shenandoah University’s Department of Arts and Sciences is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Animal Health. This is a full-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.
The Department of Human and Environmental Health and Policy in the College of Arts and Sciences at Shenandoah University is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our faculty as an assistant professor in our newly developed animal health programs (B.A. in Animal Health and Welfare; B.S. in Animal Health and Science; minor in Animal Care and Welfare). Courses may include lectures, labs, and seminars that cover topics in animal health, welfare, anatomy and physiology, nutrition, behavior, ethical treatment of animals, One Health, One Cure, etc...
The Animal Health Program is seeking a dedicated, collegial, and bilingual faculty member to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, committed to community engagement, student success, and ready to provide hands-on, immersive learning experiences for all students. We are particularly interested in candidates who are eager to teach and develop engaging courses, provide unique learning opportunities, facilitate internships, and involve undergraduates in research.
Candidates who are bilingual and have interests or expertise in One Health, animal therapy (for both the animal and the human), animal care and husbandry, food safety and security, advocacy, law, and policy are strongly encouraged to apply.
- A doctoral degree in animal health, animal science, a degree in veterinary medicine, or a closely related terminal degree by the start of the Fall 2026 semester.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly and professional activities.
