Interpreter - Part Time

Job Description

Functions as an interpreter and provides limited translation as needed. Assures compliance with interpreter service policies and procedures. Observes the Interpreters' Code of Ethics and strict confidentiality. Assists the Language Access Coordinator in the implementation and evaluation of service. Duties include providing interpretation and/or limited translation services, working with care professionals and patients in a professional, proficient, and culturally competent manner.

Responds to calls for interpretation, ensures patients understand questions, instructions, and other information transmitted by healthcare providers, and may explain cultural differences or practices to providers and patients as appropriate. Assists in processing project reports, data, and other information for project management in a timely, efficient manner. Participates in in‑service educational offerings and staff meetings. Responds to communication from the coordinator in a timely, complete, and professional manner.

Works collaboratively with the coordinator and fellow interpreters to identify and resolve complex systemic issues.

High School Diploma or equivalent

Certified or trained in medical interpreting within 1 year of employment.

Proficient in English and Spanish; at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States; available at agreed upon hours.
