Job Overview

Registered Nurse II (RN II) – Pulmonary Care – Third Shift (Night).

Pay Grade 135. Department code 206142. Worker Sub Type:
Regular.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management.
  • Facilitate quality communication, teamwork, leadership, and professionalism.
  • Direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching, quality and safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
  • Provide care for the assigned patient population and complete yearly mandatory competencies.
  • Assume responsibility as Charge Nurse, perform PI activity and department initiatives.
  • Communicate and share information with Director/Designee and co‑workers from unit or hospital committees.
  • Participate in peer review for unit and develop educational materials such as bulletin boards or posters for staff, patients, and family members.
  • Maintain a current portfolio submitted annually by March 1st.
Education
  • Associates Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN or ADN) – required.
  • Bachelors Nursing (BSN) – preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 1,872 full‑time or part‑time hours of RN experience (or 936 hours if holding BSN) and completion of a performance evaluation.
Certification & Licensures
  • RN License – required (Virginia Board of Nursing regulations; multi‑state or single‑state).
  • BLS Certification – American Heart Association (AHA) “Healthcare Provider” (HCP) – required before orientation.
  • Relevant specialty certification – preferred.
Qualifications
  • Meets all requirements of a RN I.
  • Competent to provide care based on the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological stages of human growth and development.
  • Competent to provide care using the nursing process.
  • Reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
