Registered Nurse - Cardiac Vascular Holding - Full Time

The registered professional nurse is responsible for effectively carrying out the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. The role emphasizes quality communication, teamwork, leadership, and professionalism. The RN also directs, coordinates, and implements patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to the assigned patient population.
  • Complete mandatory yearly competencies and unit‑specific competencies as directed by the Director/Designee.
  • Participate in the Professional Practice Ladder, including charge nurse duties, patient education, and departmental initiatives.
  • Solicit and validate patient/family satisfaction and participate in peer review.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date documentation and patient charts.
  • Contribute to educational materials such as bulletin board posts and posters for staff, patients, and families.
Qualifications
  • Valid Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license (multi‑state or single‑state) as required by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • BLS certification (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to orientation.
  • Minimum of 1872 full‑time hours (936 if holding a BSN) of RN experience and a recent performance evaluation.
  • Competent to provide care across the cognitive, physical, emotional, and developmental stages of growth.
  • Competent to use the nursing process for patient care.
  • Reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
Education
  • Associates Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN or ADN) is required.
  • Bachelor’s Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
