The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. They facilitate quality communication, teamwork, and leadership/professionalism, and they direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. An RN III additionally provides care to the population assigned, completes mandatory competencies, participates in unit and department initiatives, and contributes to education and quality activities.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) – Preferred

Minimum 5,616 hours of registered nurse experience.

• Registered Nurse license in Virginia (multi-state or single-state).
• BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association required.
• Relevant specialty certification preferred.

• Meets all requirements of an RN II.
• Competent to provide case-based care using the nursing process.
• Competent to provide care based on cognitive, physical, emotional, and developmental stages.
• Has a reliable means of phone communication with hospital.
