The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process: including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management. They are responsible for quality communication, teamwork, leadership and professionalism. Also directs, coordinates, and implements patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

Qualifications- Associates Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN or ADN) required.
- Bachelor's Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 1872 full‑time or part‑time hours (936 if hold BSN) of RN experience.
- RN License required; must be licensed or eligible to practice pending licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) required; new hires must have AHA appropriate certification prior to orientation.
- Relevant Specialty Certification preferred.
- Competent to provide care based on the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development.
- Competent to provide care using the nursing process.
- Must have a reliable means of phone communication with hospital.
- Meets all requirements of a RN I.
- Carry out the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management.
- Communicate quality, work in teams, and demonstrate leadership and professionalism.
- Direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching.
- Participate in quality/safety initiatives and activities of other health team personnel.
- Assume responsibility as Charge Nurse, participate in unit and hospital initiatives.
- Develop educational materials for staff/patients/family.
- Participate in peer review for unit and develop bulletin boards or posters with educational info.
