. This position focuses on monitoring, operating, and maintaining the plant’s biological wastewater treatment plant and ensuring effluent quality.
- Monitor, operate, and maintain the WWT/Operations unit, including pumps, oil/water separator, equalization basins, biobasin, sludge retention basin, and testing equipment.
- Take immediate action when essential equipment fails or WWT parameters threaten permit compliance or cause odor complaints.
- Operate lift‑station pump, oil/water separator, equalization basins, biobasin, sludge retention basin/tank clarifier, testing equipment, and other related equipment within required permits and limitations.
- Regulate dike/storm water flow into the WWT unit.
- Conduct laboratory analysis and collect samples for outside laboratories to verify compliance with applicable permits.
- Add chemicals (e.g., acids, bases, polymers, hydrogen peroxide) as necessary for WWT operation.
- Perform housekeeping tasks such as painting, weeding, sweeping, and maintaining general cleanliness.
- Report all safety incidents, near misses, and participate in investigations.
- Adhere to HSSE rules, maintain proactive risk assessment, and keep personal protective equipment clean and ready.
- Assist the Operations Coordinator and other site departments to resolve shipping and regulatory issues.
- Maintain good housekeeping, filing, and reporting standards.
- High School Diploma or GED (college or technical school preferred).
- Valid Wastewater Operator Class III State Certification.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SAP system (competent or willing to learn).
- Ability to safely operate a forklift truck for material handling.
- Understanding of plant waste handling, shipping requirements (RCRA), Process Safety Management, and safety & environmental regulations.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to multi‑task and prioritize under changing priorities.
- Physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs and handle equipment of similar weight.
- Mental dexterity to conduct analytical tests, load sludge trucks, and adjust equipment safely.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with other site departments.
- Ability to assess, prioritize, and resolve shipping issues.
