Pay

Range

$ – $ Annual (base salary). The position is also eligible for an incentive bonus.

Purpose

The Plant Manager provides overall management and leadership for a manufacturing facility, overseeing Environmental, Health & Safety, Human Resources, Finance, SIOP, Maintenance, Capital, and Physical Distribution functions.

Responsibilities
  • Create policy and implement procedures for plant operations.
  • Drive continuous productivity improvement in manufacturing operations.
  • Lead, manage and develop managers and employees to ensure the necessary capabilities and culture are in place for effective operations.
  • Evaluate financial performance and take appropriate actions.
  • Develop and coach staff committed to the JM value structure and business goals.
  • Create a work environment that ensures safety and health of employees and community.
  • Coordinate activities of the facility and resources to meet business needs.
  • Continuously improve competitiveness of operations through people, business processes, and technologies.
  • Implement recommendations, drive change initiatives, and recognize customer commitment for continued quality improvement.
  • Manage plant goals in conjunction with senior management.
  • Improve efficiency and capacity through capital expenditures.
  • Design, implement, and manage measurement tracking and reporting systems for the plant.
  • Drive JM’s emphasis on safety and environmental practices to exceed company commitments and compliance requirements.
  • Represent JM to external community and agencies.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in increasing levels of responsibility in a manufacturing environment and 3 years of plant manager experience (equivalent combinations considered).
  • Direct experience with production, engineering, warehouse, maintenance, and quality functions in a plant environment.
  • Proven collaborative and participative management skills.
  • Experience leading and motivating teams of 300+ salaried and hourly employees.
  • Proven financial skills and business acumen.
  • Experience with continuous improvement processes such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and related disciplines.
  • Experience with environmental permitting, regulatory agencies, and plant safety programs.
  • Experience managing capital programs and union workforce.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to prioritize and set direction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Experience managing a staff of 300 hourly/26 salary employees, including performance evaluation, pay reviews, hiring, and termination.
  • Moderate travel required (11–29 days per year).
  • Primary work environment is typical of an office setting; at the manufacturing facility, exposure to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, and other manufacturing hazards is expected.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
