Repair and Tool Technician

Repair and Tool Technician role at The Home Depot involves evaluation and repair of small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices. This position makes equipment recommendations and ensures that units are maintained. Technicians work in both stores with Tool Rental Centers and in repair centers. In a store, technicians provide service to store customers in Tool Rental, including writing customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, checking that tools operate properly, and demonstrating their proper use as needed.

In non-store locations, technicians repair units, test the quality of repairs and clean before returning to the originating store. Technicians must have thorough knowledge of all tools and effectively manage the tool inventory by maintaining and repairing tools.

• Evaluate and repair small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices.
• Make equipment recommendations and ensure that units are maintained.
• Work in stores with Tool Rental Centers and in repair centers; provide service to store customers in Tool Rental and, as needed, write customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, verify tool operation and demonstrate proper use.
• Support day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the Tool Rental department.
• In non-store locations, repair units, test the quality of the repair and clean before returning to the store where the repair originated.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of all tools and manage tool inventory by maintaining and repairing tools.
