Mental Health Nurse - Westmorland General Hospital, Lancashire Care
Client Name: Westmorland General Hospital, Lancashire Care
Role: Mental Health Nurse
Rates: £19.33 - £33.43 per hour
Shifts: Flexible hours, with shifts available throughout the day, night, and weekends
- Provide tailored support plans for patients based on their diagnosis
- Arrange ongoing, long-term support for patients post-care
- Build trusting relationships with patients, offering advice and reassurance
- Collaborate with doctors, therapists, psychiatrists, and social workers to develop treatment plans
- Advise relatives and carers on patient conditions, treatment, and progress
- Keep medical records up to date
- Conduct standard physical health checks and administer medications
- Discuss available therapies, support networks, and social activities to improve mental health
- Manage workloads and shift patterns
- Promote mental health initiatives and reduce stigma associated with mental health
- Stay updated with mental health best practices and theories
As a Mental Health Nurse, you should have:
- Strong understanding of mental health conditions, symptoms, and treatments
- First-class communication skills
- Empathy and understanding
- Excellent listening skills
- Resilience and ability to manage emotional distance
- Good organisational and time management skills

As an RMN with Lancashire Care, you will:
- Play a key role in patient care and rehabilitation
- Develop individualised support plans tailored to each patient
- Arrange long-term support after discharge
- Offer emotional support and reassurance
- Keep patient records accurate and up to date
- Conduct physical health checks as required
- Administer medication safely and correctly
- Discuss treatment options, therapy, and social support
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude in challenging situations
- Reduce the stigma associated with mental health
Essential:
- Registered Nurse (RMN Qualification)
- At least 2 years post-graduate experience
- 6 months recent NHS experience within the last 3 years
- Enhanced background check clearance
