Special Education Teacher - Willimantic, CT

Step into an impactful role supporting high school students with unique learning and behavioral needs throughout the  school year. This full-time contract position focuses on a specialized behavior program, serving students with Emotional Disturbance (ED) and Other Health Impairment (OHI), including ADHD. The assignment runs from ASAP through June 2027, operating Monday through Friday, with hours from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

• Valid Special Education teaching credential required
• Experience working with high school-aged students in ED and OHI (ADHD) settings preferred
• Familiarity with developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong collaboration skills to work closely with paraprofessional staff and general education teachers
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of students within both dedicated and mainstream environments
• Confident in classroom management and supporting students with behavioral strategies

• Provide direct instruction to a caseload of 11 students, adapting material for varying needs and class participation
• Maintain a supportive, consistent classroom climate focusing on positive behavior interventions
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure student success in both specialized and mainstream classes
• Monitor and document student progress, communicating regularly with families and support teams
• Uphold compliance with all special education laws and program expectations
