Job TitleSubstance Use Counselor
Employment TypeFee For Service, Part-time, 10 hours/week
SchedulePrimarily Evenings and Saturdays; hours based on needs of the program
Program/LocationPTIP East, Willimantic, CT
Responsibilities- Provide psychoeducation counseling and support to individuals and groups with substance use disorders, utilizing professional training and personal recovery experience.
- Educate clients and their families about behavioral health and substance use disorders, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Coordinate and manage client care with community providers and other referral agencies to ensure comprehensive and continuous treatment in collaboration with the client’s assigned clinician/therapist and clinical team.
- Meet all requirements of program contracts, including productivity, caseload management, reporting, and timeliness of client contact.
- Perform tox screens, including observed urine screens, oral swabs, and/or hair testing.
- Attend training sessions conducted by CHR staff or external consultants as requested or required.
- Actively participate as a full member of the treatment team, attending all staff meetings and team meetings.
- Perform other duties related to the position as needed.
- Must have knowledge of substance use disorders.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be computer literate.
Associate or bachelor’s degree required.
ExperiencePersonal experience with recovery and a commitment to supporting others on their journey is highly valued in this role. Minimum of 2 years’ experience with an associate’s degree and 1 year experience with a bachelor’s degree working in a setting with individuals with substance use problems.
Licensure/Certification /RegistrationC.A.C. or C.A.D.C. preferred.
Compensation$26.00/hour
