Job Summary

The Emergency Department at Windham Hospital provides patients with high levels of care for conditions ranging from trauma to the common cold, drug overdoses, and more. Our multidisciplinary team includes Registered Nurses (RNs), Advanced Providers, Nursing Assistants, and administrative staff. The department is equipped with 23 beds, a fast‑track area, and a behavioral health space. RNs see a wide variety of patients, including those with behavioral health and opioid‑related needs.

Our staff values flexibility, initiative, and strong teamwork, which together ensure the highest level of care for our patients.

Under the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse utilizes evidence‑based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies and procedures, and medical staff directives. The RN applies the nursing process to develop a plan of care addressing the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of patients and families.

Qualifications
  • Minimum one year RN experience required; experience in nursing process and customer service preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS certifications required within 3 months of hire.
  • Current Connecticut RN licensure or in the process of obtaining the same.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • National specialty certification preferred.
