Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, is a leader in advanced aerospace and defense solutions. The Senior Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer works on the manufacturing of complex assemblies for Life Support and Thermal Control applications, supporting external suppliers and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities- Determine mechanical manufacturing methods and ensure process availability.
- Create manufacturing assembly documentation, concept tools, and provide technical assistance for high‑quality hardware assembly.
- Support failure investigations, root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and disposition of non‑conforming hardware.
- Develop sequences for complex operations and installations, specifying procedures for tool fabrication, repairs, and disassembly/assembly.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety and quality requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve products or reduce costs using fabrication, tooling, and production equipment knowledge.
- Perform cost estimates, schedule work, and write procedures and policies.
- Review drawings and concepts, resolving producibility concerns and recommending new technologies.
- Collaborate within an integrated product development team and design environment.
- Present to senior management on initiatives such as ACE, Process Certification, Manufacturing Process Reviews, Lean Manufacturing, and EH&S projects.
- Maintain a positive attitude and effective communication with team, staff, and management.
- University degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience.
- Experience in small‑scale manufacturing, robotics, or aerospace.
- Familiarity with a modeling and/or design package such as Creo.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, machining concepts, and special processing such as welding and brazing.
- Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methods (Six Sigma, Taguchi, DMAIC, Ishikawa, Fault Tree Analysis).
- Experience with an MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning) system.
- Previous experience in Life Support and/or Thermal Control hardware.
- Solumina / SAP experience.
