Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Assets & Facility Projects or designate, this position will be responsible for:
Plan, manage and administer construction contracts and projects, including the coordination and oversight of contractors, consultants, City staff and other professional services.
Prepare project budgets and monitor revenues and expenditures during all phases of the project.
Liaise with outside agencies, boards and committees, Provincial and Federal government agencies, utility companies, as well as other authorities that have jurisdiction (TSSA, ESA, ERCA, etc.).
Prepare procurement documents, including drawings and specifications for construction projects and other contracted work and research and implement new products, maintenance and construction methods and best practices.
Coordinate commissioning of new spaces and equipment with City staff and data updates to the Corporations Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Review and assess feasibility and life-cycle costs, analyze historical data, and prepare technical, financial and other written and oral reports on all aspects of property and facility maintenance and constructions.
Prepare construction cost estimates in support of capital budget planning, pursue grant opportunities and fulfill awarded grant requirements, and monitor project revenues and expenditures on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance within the approved budgets.
Ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with Corporate policies and procedures, in particular as related to Health & Safety and Risk Management; and in accordance with all prevailing legislation, regulations and codes.
Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety program.
Will be required to travel to off-site project locations.
Will perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Must have a Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, or related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of one (1) year experience within a commercial/institutional or industrial environment in building environment systems, property and/or facility maintenance, building codes, risk and liability, project management, blueprint reading, construction design;
OR Must have a University degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, or related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience within a commercial/institutional or industrial environment in building environment systems, property and/or facility maintenance, building codes, risk and liability, project management, blueprint reading, construction design;
OR Must have a Community College diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Planning or related…
