Assist students at the Greater Essex County District School Board as a Temporary Support Worker for Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Your role will be crucial in facilitating effective communication in educational settings.
This temporary position requires a commitment to support students in their everyday learning and communication needs. Utilizing interpreting skills acquired through a Communicator’s Certificate, you will work closely with students, teachers, and administration to implement IEP goals. Additionally, you will participate in maintaining necessary equipment and providing essential feedback on student progress.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide oral and sign interpreting services for students
• Support communication within the school setting
• Assist in the development and implementation of IEPs
• Document daily observations on student performance
• Maintain and troubleshoot specialized communication equipment
Requirements:
• Successful completion of a Communicator’s Certificate program
• Certification from an Interpreter Training Program preferred
• Demonstrated skill in sign language communication
• Experience with special needs individuals preferred
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment
