Position: International Languages Instructor - American Sign Language (ASL)
The Greater Essex County District School Board invites applications from interested, qualified candidates for the position of International Languages Instructor - American Sign Language (ASL)(3). International Languages Instructor will instruct classes on Saturday mornings at a school site(s). Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 12:00 noon commencing October 3, 2026.

Job Summary  Position:
International Languages Instructor - American Sign Language (ASL) (3)
Duties:
Instructing students to learn the language.
Term of appointment:
October 2026 to May 15, 2027. This position is a 25 week assignment, extendable on an annual basis by agreement between both employer and employee.
Salary: $40.06 per hour (including pay for Vacation and Statutory Holidays) in accordance with the OSSTF Continuing Education Instructors Collective Agreement.
Nature & Scope Of Position  The successful candidate will be expected to:
Demonstrate strong collaborative, presentation, written and oral communication skills to support the delivery of the program.
Demonstrate a commitment to and documented success in working to create a fair, inclusive, antiracist environment for all stakeholders, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations.
Assist with the promotion of the International Languages Program - American Sign Language.
Experience working with youth and adult in the Deaf/hard of hearing community would be considered an asset.
Current police clearance with a Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
Qualifications  Applicants must have at time of application:
Proficiency in computer skills such as but not limited to:
Word, Excel or other database software.
Proficiency and fluency in American Sign Language.
Legally allowed to work in Canada, over the age of 18.
An interest and passion about languages.
Classroom experience considered an asset.
Effective organization, communication skills, and respect within the classroom environment.
