We are seeking a motivated professional to collaborate with customers and lead cutting-edge projects in our state‑of‑the‑art test lab. Responsibilities
Collaborate with customers to define test requests and secure management approval for cost, timing, material, and headcount requirements.
Lead a team of technicians and co‑op students in vehicle teardown and dissection processes, documenting issues and concerns.
Design and utilize hydraulic and mechanical testing equipment for elastomeric vehicle components.
Document extensive film thickness readings, metal loss readings, and laser scanning of components.
Report findings and communicate effectively with product engineers.
Coordinate and ship specimens and samples to product engineers and suppliers.
Work with external suppliers to lead component dissections, manage budgets, and generate purchase orders.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or Material Engineering from an accredited university.
Years of experience with corrosion effects on various metal alloys/compositions.
Knowledge of vehicle body, chassis, and suspension systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBA).
Strong time management, leadership, planning, and follow‑up skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Valid driver's license and legal authorization to work in Canada with the ability to travel to the USA.
Preferences
Previous experience in paint and corrosion evaluation.
Experience with in the automotive industry, with a focus on testing.
Related co‑op experience for new graduates.
Experience working in a unionized environment.
Good communication and leadership skills to coordinate and instruct bargaining unit mechanics.
