NOTE:
Hybrid onsite up to 3 times per week with the likelihood of being onsite 100% in Windsor, Ontario. Must be willing and able to travel to the USA without restrictions, effective on the start date. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
Responsibilities Own and manage the design, development and release of BIW upper body components/subassemblies.
Focus on machine/metal design engineering and body structures.
Maintain extensive knowledge of Catia/NX modeling and a background in developing, packaging and synthesizing complex vehicle systems.
Utilize and update parameters and standards specific to upper body shells and closures – doors, hoods, fenders, liftgates and overall upper body system.
Work with external suppliers, internal stamping plants and vehicle plant body shop to ensure manufacturability, cost and material performance.
Develop and manage CBOM and quadris for subassemblies.
Create source package technical documentation and manage technical reviews with suppliers and internal team.
Define and track engineering validation plans (DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA) and coordinate physical testing.
Provide onsite plant launch support to triage, root‑cause and establish corrective actions to address assembly, build variation, BSR or other issues.
Ensure designs comply with internal standards, vehicle performance targets and regulatory requirements.
Communicate project status, risks and deliverables to stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and quality teams.
Create CAD (Catia/NX) parametric math models for commodities using KBE template modelling techniques.
Dictate architecture and construction techniques and create master development, packaging and requirement sections.
Define master template modelling structures.
Train other Catia/NX engineers on modelling techniques and architecture.
Conduct competitive benchmarking studies.
Create and maintain KBE design and analysis templates/requirements as standards change.
Develop associative parametric CAD modelling and NX design template automation capability.
Required
Skills & Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive or related field) from an accredited university.
5 years of experience in automotive sheet metal development or related areas.
Proficiency in CAD software (Teamcenter, NX, Visio) and PLM systems.
Strong knowledge of metal forming and joining techniques.
Familiarity with GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, tolerance stack‑ups and typical automotive validation testing.
Experience focused on machine/metal design engineering and body structures, specifically upper body shells and closures.
5 years of CAD modelling, robust modelling and parametric CAD modelling with Siemens NX.
5 years experience with NX Product Template Studio and template creation for process automation.
Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering fields.
Strong English speaking and writing skills.
Strong engineering design project presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
KBE training.
Experience working directly with internal and/or tier 1 stamping suppliers.
Experience with problem solving such as Red‑X.
Experience with robust design such as DFSS.
Experience with change management, release and warranty systems.
Knowledge of global automotive standards.
Understanding of sheet metal grades and applications.
Hands‑on experience with vehicle body shop, pre‑production builds and plant launch activities.
Compensation & Benefits Hourly rate: $41.00–$45.00 per hour (depending on experience).
Paid benefits after 90 days (individual and family – extended medical, out‑of‑country coverage, dental, etc.).
Pension eligibility with employer match after 1 full year of work (open enrollment every October).
