Job Description:
Client is seeking an Automation Engineer to support ongoing laboratory operations by developing, maintaining, and supporting automated test scripts for EV battery pack development and validation testing.This role is focused on steady ‐ state lab operations, ensuring reliable, safe, and efficient execution of test programs through high ‐ quality automation, scripting, and software support.The Automation Engineer will work closely with battery pack test engineers and test requestors to support current and evolving testing needs.Responsibilities:Create, peer review, validate, release, and maintain automated test scripts used for battery pack testingEnsure all test scripts comply with applicable safety requirements, test procedures, and functional requirementsProvide ongoing software and automation support to ensure proper execution of lab testsTroubleshoot and resolve test script, software, and execution issues during testingProvide on ‐ testbed support as needed to ensure tests are running safely and correctlySupport test engineers in test project meetings as requiredSupport root cause analysis and resolution of issues identified during testingMaintain open and effective communication with test requestors to stay aligned with testing requirementsApply common software development processes and implement best practices to ensure script quality, reliability, and maintainabilitySupport test data processing and analysis when requiredContribute to initiatives that improve lab efficiency, throughput, and cost, including analysis, modelling, and simulationEnsure all required training and certifications remain up to dateEscalate technical, safety, or operational issues to management as neededRequirements:Minimum years of experience in test scripting and automation of hardware systems (excluding software application testing)Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as VB Script, MATLAB, and PythonWorking knowledge of CAN communicationStrong problem ‐ solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detailExcellent ability to write clear, concise, and accurate technical documentationStrong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast ‐ paced lab environmentLegally eligible to work in CanadaPreferred Qualifications:Master of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related fieldExperience with AVL PUMA / LYNX scripting environmentsExperience using CAN tools such as Vector CANalyzerKnowledge of Lithium ‐ ion battery systems and battery characterizationExperience with battery pack testing or related system ‐ level testingDemonstrated effort to stay current with advancements in test automation and data management technologiesEducation:Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related fieldWe offer attractive, competitive compensation and benefits including, medical, dental, k, short-term disability, AD&D, tuition reimbursement, and more.
