Job Description We are seeking an experienced Powertrain Engine OBD Calibration Engineer to support the development, calibration, and verification of On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) systems for gasoline propulsion systems. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with INCA, MATLAB, Simulink/Stateflow , and a solid understanding of gasoline powertrain hardware and functionality
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement OBD calibration solutions and diagnostic verification strategies
Perform diagnostic verification and validation testing
Manage technical aspects of OBD diagnostic calibrations
Support compliance with CARB OBD regulations
Identify diagnostic system requirements during hardware design and development
Develop robust diagnostic strategies and calibration solutions
Use standard instrumentation and data acquisition tools for data collection, storage, and analysis
Calibrate diagnostic thresholds to meet regulatory requirements
Analyze test data and identify opportunities for calibration improvements
Prepare technical reports, assignment summaries, and timing projections
Collaborate with engineering, calibration, and validation teams throughout the development process
Travel approximately 2–4 weeks annually to support system validation and verification activities
Required Qualifications 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
Hands‑on experience with ETAS INCA
Proficiency in MATLAB
Proficiency in Simulink / Stateflow
Basic understanding of gasoline propulsion system hardware and functionality
Experience with OBD calibration and diagnostic testing
Understanding of OBD regulatory requirements , particularly CARB
Strong data analysis, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with automotive powertrain calibration
Experience with gasoline engine diagnostics
Knowledge of CARB OBD regulations and diagnostic monitoring
Experience with data acquisition, instrumentation, and test equipment
Experience with system validation and verification
Previous experience working with OEM or Tier-1 automotive powertrain programs
