Municipal Drainage Technologist

Overview

We are currently seeking a Municipal Drainage Technologist to join our Linear Municipal Infrastructure team. Our team specializes in the critical networks that keep a community moving and connected, including water mains, sanitary sewers, stormwater systems, and roadways.

This is a new position and is based at our Windsor or Chatham office. We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.

Project Coordination & Design

• Support civil engineering team activities and project managers / technical staff in the delivery of municipal drainage projects within Ontario.

• Produce preliminary and detailed designs for municipal infrastructure, land development, and stormwater management projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D, collaborating closely within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technologists.

• Develop comprehensive engineering drawings for private and municipal stakeholders, including storm/sanitary/water servicing plans, site grading, road profiles, cross-section details, and specialized municipal drainage servicing for both greenfield and reconstruction projects.

• Prepare and review technical reports, hydraulic calculations, and hydrologic models to support the design process, including storm and sanitary sewer design tables, functional servicing reports, overland flow route assessments, drainage reports, and earthwork volume calculations.

• Design and evaluate municipal drainage systems, culverts, storm ditches, stormwater management ponds, and low-impact development (LID) features in accordance with local municipal, provincial, and conservation authority drainage guidelines.

• Assist in project delivery by preparing specifications and contract documentation for construction tender packages, including quantity take-offs, traffic control plans, drainage shop drawing reviews, and cost estimates.

• Coordinate with clients, sub-consultants, municipal authorities, and regulatory bodies (e.g., conservation authorities, environmental agencies) to secure drainage and servicing approvals.

• Attend and actively participate in internal and external project team meetings.

• Undertake on-site inspection, site reviews, and drainage assessments as required.

What you will need to succeed

• A diploma in civil engineering technology.
• 0-3 years professional work experience in municipal / infrastructure engineering.

• Experienced in the design and construction management of municipal drainage projects.
• Experienced in municipal drainage design standards, environmental approvals and the Ontario Drainage Act.
• Working knowledge of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D software will be considered an asset.

Compensation

$48,000-$68,000
