Position Overview

Job Title: Cost and Ledger Accountant Supervisor

Reports to: Controller

Location: In‑person (Kingsville, ON)

Job Type: Full‑time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000.00–$75,000.00 per year

Position Summary: The Cost and Ledger Accountant Supervisor manages cost accounting and general ledger operations, ensuring financial accuracy, ERP integration, and cost control. The role requires strong accounting expertise, attention to detail, and leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities Financial Management (50%)
  • Manage full‑cycle accounting: accounts payable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and reconcile the Balance Sheet using ERP systems.
  • Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements aligned with GAAP and ASPE.
  • Lead cost accounting: inventory analysis, production cost tracking, and variance reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis for production and supply chain.
  • Analyze financial data for insights on cost efficiency and profitability.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Support system upgrades and project‑based financial analysis.
Staff Management (15%)
  • Supervise Accounts Payable team member and oversee disbursements.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and manage team dynamics.
  • Address attendance, performance, or conduct concerns as needed.
  • Collaborate with operations, logistics, and production teams.
Financial Systems & ERP Administration (30%)
  • Prepare internal financial reports and assist in external audits.
  • Maintain and manage the Item Master within the ERP system.
  • Provide ERP administrative support and participate in enhancements.
  • Review and approve budgets, forecasts, and variances.
  • Collaborate with auditors and bring knowledge of audit processes, especially in cost and cash audit areas.
Other Responsibilities (5%)
  • Stay updated on GAAP and ASPE standards and financial regulations.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and cross‑functional financial planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Accounting‑focused).
  • Actively pursuing CPA designation preferred.
  • 2–3 years of experience in corporate accounting required.
  • Experience in cost accounting, inventory control, and audit preparation preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems required (e.g., Net Suite, SAP, etc. – specific system is a plus).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and ability to analyze complex financial data.
  • Excellent technical, reconciliation, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proven ability to supervise, lead, and coach team members.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and ASPE principles.
Work Environment
  • Office‑based role with standard business hours (Monday to Friday).
  • Occasional overtime during audits or month‑end/year‑end reporting.
