Lab Patient Technician  As a Lab Patient Technician you will be responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients through to preparation of specimens for transportation. This is an important role in patient care and our business, and will let you see the difference that you make in patients’ lives.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 7:15am – 4:45pm
Float between Kingsville, Windsor, and Essex

Start Date:

ASAP
Responsibilities   Greet patients, gather required information, explain specimen collection process, and verify that patients have followed necessary test protocol before collection.
Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and conduct ECG tracings.
Collect special test samples such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trial specimens, and complete related documentation.
Maintain client relationships, responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
Enter patient demographics, requisition information, and other data related to test processing.
Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
Qualifications   Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent (preferred).
Phlebotomy experience (asset).
ECG training or experience (asset).
Excellent communication skills.
Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
Strong customer/patient service, empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to maintain strict standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
