Advance your legal career with the City of Windsor as a Senior Legal Counsel focusing on insurance and risk management. Provide comprehensive legal services while ensuring robust risk protection for the organization.
In this Regular Full-Time position, you will report to the Deputy City Solicitor and manage the Corporation's insurance portfolio and risk management functions. The role entails interacting with adjusters, insurers, and internal stakeholders, while you also draft legal opinions and represent the Corporation where necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal services in insurance and risk matters
• Administer the Corporation’s comprehensive insurance portfolio
• Negotiate with adjusters, brokers, and external lawyers
• Draft reports for CAO and presentation at Council meetings
• Prepare legal opinions for City Administration
Requirements:
• JD, LLB or equivalent with 6+ years of legal experience
• Must be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• Knowledge of personal injury, insurance, and corporate law
• Proficiency in MS Office and Westlaw for legal research
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
