Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining housing units and buildings in Windsor, Ontario on behalf of York Property Management. Main duties include investigating maintenance issues and subsequently planning, coordinating, and completing repairs as required. Strong communication and time management skills are required. The Maintenance Technician works in collaboration with the Manager of Resident Experience (MRE) and reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities- Maintain housing units to ensure the suites are safe and in pristine condition.
- Complete daily inspections, including building systems inspections, fire safety walk throughs, exterior grounds inspections
- Complete daily work requests in Property Management software system, including minor electrical, plumbing, hardware, flooring, and carpentry
- Repair and install appliances, including stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves, and washing machines
- Perform preventive maintenance on fire alarms, appliances, dryer venting, and in suite air handlers
- Assist with weekly garbage and recycling pick up, as well as chute maintenance
- Assist with power washing of the parking garage, sidewalks, and terraces as needed
- Coordinating with vendors and contractors to complete work on the property
- Inspect heat coil systems to make sure they are in working order
- Inspect parking garage CO2 monitoring stations to maintain no faults
- Providing access and supervise vendors and contractors to perform contracted work
- Paint units and hallways and suite turnovers when required
- Clean up after any activities conducted
- Perform administrative duties by keeping daily logs of tasks completed, and input into Property ware database
- Follow a preventative maintenance schedule for the property
- Maintain equipment and tools
- Order stock supplies
- Follow work order instructions
- Perform other related duties as required
- Experience in building maintenance is required
- Building maintenance skills
- Excellent mechanical skills
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Client service and public interaction skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Ability to use and/or learn how to use new technology for time tracking and work order purposes
