A Mold Maker at our Windsor Mold Group facility is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the proper functioning of tools, molds, jigs, fixtures, and other equipment used in manufacturing processes. A mold maker plays a critical role in ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall productivity and quality of the plant.
Responsibilities
Inspecting tools and equipment to identify wear, damage, or malfunctions.
Performing routine maintenance and repairs to keep them in optimal working condition.
Setting up tools and equipment for production runs, ensuring they are properly calibrated and aligned to produce parts within specified tolerances.
Inspecting new tools according to company standards.
Diagnosing issues with tools and equipment during production and implementing solutions to minimize downtime.
Modifying existing tools or fabricating new ones to meet specific production needs, which may involve working with various materials and using machines like lathes, mills and grinders.
Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities, tool usage, and repairs.
Ensuring that all tools and equipment are compliant with safety and quality standards.
Maintaining all related documentation to TS16949 standards and standard work including Mold Tag System and Mold Storage Standards.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent (minimum).
Ideally 3–5 years of Tool and Die Repair experience.
Preference for candidates with certificates or diplomas from a technical or vocational school in machining, tool and die making, mold making or mechanical engineering.
2 shot tooling, Class A polish and lighting tools an asset with processing knowledge.
Ability to travel internationally, and to travel on short notice, for extended periods of time.
Proficiency in using machining tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines.
Understanding of tooling principles, materials, and processes; strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to troubleshoot and repair tools and equipment.
Ability to operate milling machines, lathes, band saws, and other tool shop machinery.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software can be beneficial.
