The Precision Manufacturing Specialist is a senior, multi‑disciplinary technical role responsible for the design, development, fabrication, and validation of precision components supporting manufacturing equipment and production operations. This role integrates machining, engineering, and advanced manufacturing to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and enable in‑house innovation. This role is critical to reducing downtime (MTTR), improving equipment reliability, and strengthening internal manufacturing capability.

It enables rapid response to production issues while driving long‑term cost reduction and process improvement.

Responsibilities

Program and operate CNC and manual machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders)

Design components and assemblies using CAD; generate toolpaths using CAM

Perform precision measurement and validation using CMM and metrology tools

Reverse engineer components and redesign for improved performance and reliability

Fabricate and weld custom parts, tooling, and fixtures (MIG/TIG/ARC)

Support equipment troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement initiatives

Develop prototypes and new concepts in collaboration with engineering teams

Apply manufacturing process knowledge (machining, forming, fabrication, assembly)

Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and BOM structures

Support CMMS integration and spare parts standardization

Minimum Requirements

Diploma or degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field from a recognized Canadian post‑secondary institution or an equivalent credential assessed and recognized in Canada.

Minimum 3 years in machining, tool & die, tool & mold, or manufacturing environment

Strong CNC machining and CAD/CAM experience.

Proficiency in GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision measurement.

Experience with CMM and inspection processes

Welding and fabrication experience

Strong problem‑solving and cross‑functional collaboration skills

Ability to work in a clean room environment where humidity levels are below 1%

Ability to lift over 40lbs.

Preferred Requirements

Experience in automated or high‑volume manufacturing environments

Knowledge of PLC‑controlled equipment and machine integration

Familiarity with ISO standards, PSR, CSA, and ESA requirements
