Position: Irrigation and Pest Specialist (Kingsville)

Job Summary

Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens is actively seeking an Irrigation & Pest Specialist to join our team. They will manage irrigation systems and support healthy crop production to maximize yield, quality, and resource efficiency.

Job Responsibilities
  • Water plants according to crop schedules and environmental conditions to maintain optimal plant health.
  • Monitor plant moisture levels and adjust watering practices as needed.
  • Apply fertilizers and plant nutrients following established procedures and schedules.
  • Scout crops regularly for signs of pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and other plant health concerns.
  • Identify and report plant health issues to supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Apply biological controls (“bios”) and other approved plant protection products as required.
  • Work closely with the Grower to coordinate and determine scheduling of watering, fertilization, scouting, and biological applications.
  • Maintain accurate records of watering, fertilization, scouting observations, and treatment applications.
  • Ensure proper handling, mixing, and storage of fertilizers and biological products.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of growing areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures and company protocols at all times.
  • Other duties as required.
Job Qualifications
  • Ability to recognize common plant pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
  • Experience applying biological controls (“bios”) or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work closely with the Grower and follow crop management schedules and instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and complete assigned tasks consistently.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working in greenhouse conditions for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Pesticide license is an asset.

  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and varying shifts as necessary.
  • Work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to wet, damp or humid environment.
  • Physically demanding – standing, walking, lifting, bending.
