Full-time, permanent. This position may require availability up to six days per week, additional hours, and occasional Sundays depending on workload and operational priorities.

Job Summary

The Quality Lead provides hands‑on leadership and daily direction to the Repack Quality team in a fast‑paced fresh produce environment. This position ensures finished products, packaging, labelling, documentation, and shipping activities meet customer specifications, company standards, and applicable food safety requirements.

Working closely with the Quality Manager, Production Supervisors, and Line Leaders, the Quality Lead organizes daily quality activities, addresses product concerns, supports employees, and ensures quality requirements are consistently followed throughout the repack process.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Direct and organize the daily workflow of the Repack Quality team based on production schedules, staffing needs, and operational priorities.
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and support to Quality team members throughout the shift.
  • Monitor and verify the accuracy of finished product inspections and quality reporting.
  • Ensure finished products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
  • Confirm that current quality specifications are accurate, available, understood, and consistently followed by employees.
  • Monitor the input and output quality of fresh produce throughout the repack process.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures related to finished products, packaging, labelling, documentation, and shipping.
  • Identify product defects, specification concerns, labelling errors, packaging issues, or process gaps and communicate them promptly to management.
  • Work closely with Production Supervisors and Line Leaders to lead quality activities on the repack lines.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Production team regarding product output, customer requirements, and quality concerns.
  • Support timely decisions regarding products that do not meet required specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable CFIA and USDA policies and procedures.
  • Promote and uphold company Food Safety and Environmental Health and Safety standards.
  • Identify food safety, quality, or workplace safety gaps and provide employees with education and corrective direction.
  • Help ensure quality activities are completed accurately and within required production timelines.
  • Escalate recurring or significant quality concerns to the Quality Manager.
  • Provide coverage and support within the Quality Department when required.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Minimum one year of experience within the fresh produce industry.
  • Previous experience in quality assurance, quality control, food production, repack, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the confidence and assertiveness to provide direction and address quality concerns.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an emphasis on meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify product or process concerns quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, Quality personnel, Production Supervisors, Line Leaders, and management.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused when responding to production or quality concerns.
  • Experience working with CFIA requirements is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with USDA requirements is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience providing direction, coaching, or training to employees is considered an asset.
  • Secondary language skills are considered an asset.
Physical Abilities
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, and reach using the body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Must be able to regularly lift materials weighing up to 14 kg / 30 lbs and occasionally lift materials weighing up to 23 kg / 50 lbs.
