The 400 City Hall Square East building hosts multiple City of Windsor services and federal/provincial partner offices, creating steady public traffic throughout the day. Security should monitor public counters, guide visitors between departments, manage high‑volume periods, and maintain safety in a multi‑agency facility with continuous foot traffic.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehend and demonstrate competencies of City of Windsor and the Security policies and procedures with an ability to use a customer service approach
Keep an open and objective mind, remembering the city’s diverse community
Assist visitors and employees during crisis and contact the necessary emergency services as needed
Ensure that the property is safe by ensuring all security measures are functioning properly
Enthusiastically conduct proactive patrols (exterior and interior), address policy breaches, and note facility concerns
Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner to avoid creating panic among the public
De‑escalate a crisis, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including police, fire and paramedic resources
Handle lost & found items and inquiries
Provide first aid and medical response when required to any person
Maintain positive and constructive relationships with the client’s staff and external clients by providing timely and accurate support as required
Perform duties and tasks assigned by the Security Leadership team and respond to the directions of the client, City of Windsor
Perform other related duties as assigned by the city
Prerequisites
Valid security license for the province of Ontario
Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
English (oral and written) fluency is a must
Legally authorized to work in Canada
