Job Overview

Education:

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
Work setting:
Willing to relocate.
Responsibilities   Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, GPS or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
Load and unload goods.
Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes.
Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
Perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs.
Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle.
Perform preventive maintenance.
Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
Perform tarping and ensure safety and security of cargo.
Transport and handle dangerous goods.
Qualifications   AZ class license.
Air Brakes Endorsement.
Basic security clearance.
Driver's validity licence check.
Driving record check (abstract).
Drug test.
Valid driver's licence.
Willing to travel cross-border, for extended periods, internationally, and overnight.
Attention to detail, handling heavy loads, large workload, physically demanding, repetitive tasks, sitting.
Weight handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Own tools/equipment:
Steel-toed safety boots, safety vest, gloves.
Efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, judgement, organized, reliability, team player, hardworking, patience.
