Truck Driver

Job Summary  Position involves planning or adjusting routes based on changing conditions and driving as part of a two‑person team or convoy. The role requires load and unload of goods, obtaining permits for international transport, operating single and articulated trucks, and ensuring vehicle safety and maintenance. The driver is responsible for recording cargo, hours of service and fuel consumption, and for carrying out emergency roadside repairs.
Education & Eligibility  Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
Responsibilities   Plan or adjust routes using computer equipment, GPS or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
Drive single or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
Load and unload goods.
Obtain special permits and other documents required for international cargo transport.
Oversee vehicle condition, inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
Perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs.
Conduct pre‑trip, en route and post‑trip inspections and oversee all vehicle aspects.
Perform preventive maintenance.
Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
Ensure cargo is tarped and secured.
Certifications & Licenses   AZ class license.
Air Brakes Endorsement.
Driver's License (Class 1 or

A).
Documentation Knowledge   Accident or incident reports.
Bill of lading.
Driver logbook.
Inspection report (pre‑trip, en‑route, post‑trip).
Trans‑border documentation.
Trip reports.
Communication Systems   Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment.
Trip recorder (on‑board computer).
Travel & Work Conditions   Willing to travel cross‑border, internationally, for extended periods and overnight.
Willing to travel overnight.
Security & Safety   Basic security clearance.
Driver's validity licence check.
Driving record check (abstract).
Drug test.

Physical Requirements   Attention to detail.
Handling heavy loads, up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Physically demanding, repetitive tasks, sitting for long periods.
Requirements for weight handling and tool usage such as steel‑toed safety boots and safety vest.
