Location: belle river
Drive safety and efficiency as a 2nd Mate Officer on a busy vessel. Responsible for navigational supervision, maintenance of safety equipment, and passenger boarding protocols.
This position requires reporting to both the Master and Chief Officer while acting as the vessel’s designated Safety Officer. You will be responsible for maintaining the bridge and ensuring compliance with all safety standards. Strong leadership and communication skills are vital as you oversee crew activities and ensure a secure environment for passengers and personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise navigational watch and safety procedures
• Inspect and maintain lifesaving and firefighting gear
• Manage wheelhouse equipment and navigation instruments
• Direct crew responsibilities and monitor performance
• Ensure emergency procedures compliance
Requirements:
• Canadian Watchkeeping Mate certification mandatory
• Continued Proficiency Endorsement required
• Seafarers Medical Certificate necessary
• STCW Basics and Advanced Fire Fighting certifications needed
• Familiarity with vessel operating procedures required
