Education Level and Certification :
High school degree or GED required. Nebraska Teaching or Administrative and Supervisory Certificate, with a Special Services Certificate in coaching, preferred. Any other mandatory training and/or certification is required. First Aid and CPR training required (may be obtained on the job and must be kept current). Must possess a motor vehicle operator’s license with a certificate to operate a school van.

On-staff certificated employee preferred. Coaching experience preferred.

Required Job Tasks

• Oversee and manage the assigned team.
• Use good judgment to determine athlete participation during practices and games, including squad level and playing time.
• Positively promote the athletic program within the schools and the community,
• Assist in the selection and evaluation of assistant coaches.
• Coordinate with the Activities Director in planning and scheduling practices, announcements, competitions, and the like.
• Supervises locker rooms and playing areas during and following periods of team participation.
• Remains with students and supervises them when traveling to away events.
• Oversees and tends to injured athletes.
• Cares for and maintains equipment and annual inventories.
• Works closely with custodians in control at facilities.
• Serve as a role model to all students.
• Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District’s reputation or image in the community.
• Refrain from engaging in conduct that interferes with the operations of the District, including the education of students.
• Develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration.
• Adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives.
• Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.
• Adhere to the code of ethics of the District and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE Rule 27).

The employee has a primary duty of performing work requiring knowledge of an advanced type in a field of science or learning customarily acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction and study or has a primary duty of teaching, tutoring, instructing, or lecturing in the activity of imparting knowledge and is employed and engaged in this activity as a teacher.
