Strategic Buyer | Negotiation & Profit-Driven Category Lead

Role

• Manage a designated category and deliver long‑term profitability, meeting budgeted income and terms agreements.
• Negotiate with the supply base to secure the lowest cost prices and most cost‑effective routes to market.
• Collaborate with category and NPD teams to deliver range and New Product Development opportunities that support the company strategy.
• Work with Supply Chain to ensure suppliers meet service level agreements and customer demand.
• Lead and manage the category review process, recommending cost‑saving initiatives and presenting pricing and market analysis with recommendations.
• Apply experience from a relevant buying role within food retail, wholesale, hospitality or food service, ideally having led negotiations with branded manufacturers.
• Demonstrate a passion for trading and commercial and negotiation skills.
• Exhibit excellent influencing, presenting, internal and external relationship skills.
• Show hands‑on buying experience and proven negotiation tactics with suppliers.
• Be a team player with strong communication skills.
• Possess good insight and data analysis skills and the ability to act on profit‑driving opportunities.
• Maintain excellent planning and organisational skills, working independently as a self‑starter with a can‑do attitude.

• Salary up to £55k plus car allowance, bonus, pension and health.
