Learning Support Assistant

Role

We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a warm, inclusive primary school in Slough.

Full Time, Permanent. Competitive salary, dependent on experience. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

• Work closely with class teachers, the SEND team and wider school staff to provide targeted support for pupils with additional needs.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND.
• Support children with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Assist in the delivery of personalised learning and intervention programmes.
• Promote pupil independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
• Support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support plans.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and achievements.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
• Support the school's inclusive ethos and safeguarding responsibilities.

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in a school or similar setting.
• Patience, compassion, and resilience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships and establish trust with pupils.
• Proactive, flexible and able to use own initiative.
• Works effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to supporting the educational, emotional and social development of children.
• Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential).
