Art & Design Technician

Location:

Windsor, Berkshire

Contract:

Permanent (all-year-round)

Salary: £24,983 – £26,784 (Grade G17 – G19, dependent on experience and qualifications)

Overview

The Windsor Forest Colleges Group seeks an Art & Design Technician to support teaching and learning in the Creative Arts Department at Windsor College. The role involves technical support, equipment management and workshop oversight.

Responsibilities
  • Provide first‑class technical assistance for staff and students using specialist equipment, tools and creative work spaces.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, manage stock levels and organise workshop resources.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of specialist equipment, models, ceramics, moulds, casting materials, kilns, woodworking tools, textiles, digital fabrication tools and 3D design equipment.
  • Communicate with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels to coordinate support and training.
  • Assist with the production and set‑up of project deliverables on time and to specification.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Level 2 (GCSE A‑C) in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • Qualification or significant experience in Art & Design, 3D Design, Ceramics, Fashion, Textiles or a related creative discipline.
  • Practical knowledge of 3D design processes, model making, ceramics, mould making and casting techniques.
  • Experience with kiln operation, woodworking, textiles or digital fabrication software is highly advantageous.
  • Strong organisational, communication and time‑management skills.
